In the Summer of 2025, I supported a small permaculture-based food producer in Nelson, BC, where I helped maintain the grounds, care for an edible garden, and participate in seasonal food production. My role involved overseeing the day-to-day stewardship of companion planting systems, soil regeneration zones, and the seasonal harvesting of cherries and other produce. I applied systems thinking to observe how the site functioned as a living network—balancing productivity, biodiversity, and low-tech resilience. This experience deepened my understanding of permaculture principles, such as “observe and interact”. It reinforced my commitment to designing solutions that are regenerative, local, and enriching.
