The concept took shape through experimentation with fish leather, notably cod skin, and an interest in circular economy design. Baccalieu™ draws on the knowledge of the classic Oxford pattern. The goal is to create durable, aesthetically pleasing items with a minimal ecological footprint.
The project revealed the challenges of launching a sustainable product line, yet affirmed the value of working closely with the material, staying open to pivots, and rooting design in lived cultural experience.
